Review of The Prince Who Loved Me by Karen Hawkins

The Prince Who Loved Me is a wonderful historical romance with a Cinderella based plot and best of all it contains Karen Hawkins signature wit. It is in it's essence a wonderful read full of good humor, passion, and sweet emotion. I have been reading her books for many years now and would consider myself a faithful fan for a good reason. She tends to write books that you don't want to put down. The plot twists are unique and I can't get enough of her brand of romance. I love the way Hawkins blends the classic love story with humor. It really makes her stories stand out. This book like all her other books is delisicious. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Here's to happy reading . . .

Review of Darling Beast by Elizabeth Hoyt

The big day is finally here. Tomorrow is release day for Darling Beast by Elizabeth Hoyt. It's her latest in the Maiden Lane series and one that I personally have been waiting impatiently for. It was definitely well worth the wait. I love, love, love this book. Until this came along, The Duke Of Midnight, the previous book in the series was my favorite. This may now be my new favorite in the M.L. series. I will always love Wakefield but Apollo, well Apollo could be my beast any day. This book was yummy. I gave it 4 1/2 stars but I am not big on giving away a story so I will limit what I say. First off I found myself unsure about the series and where it stands. Where could the series go next? The mysteries of the Harlequin have been solved, the orphanage settled. The previous book did leave us, dear readers, with a case of anxiety in regards to Artemis' brother. What would happen next? Would he recover from his stay in Bedlam? Could Apollo live a normal life and find his HEA? Where would the characters of Maiden Lane take us next? I really love a good mystery and Hoyt is wonderful at weaving them into passionate love stories and this is a fine example of her craft. I think you will enjoy unraveling Apollo's story. I now find myself waiting (as patiently as possible) for the May 2015 release of Dearest Rogue. I can't wait to see what Captain Trevillion gets up to. Not to mention the new Duke, is he good or bad? We will have to wait and see what surprises Ms. Hoyt and her characters have for us. So here's to happy reading . . .

Review of Anna Campbell's What A Duke Dares

This review unfortunately was delayed because a busy personal schedule.  My apologies. Any way, I wanted to share news of Anna Campbell's last release from August, What A Duke Dares. Can I just say that this was a fab read. It was 5 star book in my humble opinion. That in itself says a great deal about this story in particular. I love historical but it is hard to find a stand out voice or even a unique plot. That's not to say that the books aren't really good. I think many of them are fantastic but not always fresh. I chose to give this particular book 5 stars because the story line stood out. The story itself was fast paced and engrossing. The leads, Cam and Penelope, are a great couple at cross purposes with a somewhat mutual goal. They eventually figure it out but it's great following them to their HEA. I hope you give it a chance. I think you will love Them as much as I did.

Review: Indecent Proposal by Molly O'Keefe

I have to start this post by telling you how sad I am. I'm sad because a fabulous book I was reading has come to an end. I finished reading Indecent Proposal earlier this week and I find myself affraid to pick up another book. The fear is that I will most certainly be disappointed. I absolutely loved this book. It ranks in the top 20 of my favorites. This may seem like a big list but I having been reading everyday since I was a child. That is a lot of books considering I am well past 30. My hope is that it helps to convey how I truly feel about this book.
The author took two much used themes, a one night stand and an accidental pregnancy, and turned them into something extraordinary. Harrison and Ryan are not your typical "opposites attract" couple. They have ups and downs and outside forces trying to derail them from their journey to a HEA. She is strong and alone. Harrison, although surrounded by people is a little lonely too. The sparks between this couple and the passion they share is as hot as molten lava. The story itself was full of a wide range of emotions that felt real. I love when a book can pull a reader in and make them really feel the story and characters. I also love when the author is able to creat something so wonderful out of what I would consider to be a common plot. It is an extremely hard thing to do. Bravo Ms. O'Keefe.  All in all, it was a wonderful read and I will be looking forward to more from this author.

 A rebel on the run…

Victoria Royal is a traitor. Or so the U.S. government believes. Victoria was once a promising sniper in the Army, but now she’s gone rogue—worse, she’s just landed in the middle of a Hostile Operations Team mission in the desert and blasted it all to hell.

Nick “Brandy” Brandon doesn’t expect to run into Victoria when he’s bugging out from a mission gone wrong. It’s been more than three years since she disappeared from the sniper course they were in together, and he’s finally stopped thinking about her killer curves and smart mouth.

But now she’s back—and she’s far more dangerous than Nick ever believed possible… Is she really a traitor? Or is there something more at stake? He has to decide fast—because time’s running out and too many lives hang in the balance…

 Excerpt

Driven by some emotion she couldn’t name, Victoria turned and walked back over to Nick. He was frowning at her when she reached up and pulled his head down. She pressed her lips to his cheek, felt the roughness of his stubble and breathed the smell of him—sand, spice, and cool water—deep into her lungs.

“Thanks for saving me,” she said, her lips close to his ear.

She started to step away, but he caught her close and turned his head, his lips meeting hers. The contact was shocking—and delicious in a way she hadn’t anticipated. She’d been kissed before, but this… this was better than any of those kisses had been.

His mouth was soft and hard against hers, his hands firm on her hips as he held her against him. The kiss was hot and tame all at once. Simultaneously the most arousing and most chaste kiss she’d ever had. He didn’t force her mouth open, didn’t thrust his tongue between her lips—he just kissed her hard and thoroughly before setting her away from him and taking a step backward.
And, God, she wanted his tongue so badly now. Wanted to feel it sliding against her own, stroking her senses higher.

But the kiss was over and he was looking at her, his jaw firm and a hard look in his eyes.

“You’re welcome,” he said, and it took her a moment to remember that she’d thanked him for saving her.

“I… I have to go.” Her cheeks flamed as she said it because he knew she had to leave as well as she did. The car was running, and she’d left the door open. She took a step backward, and then another.

Then she turned and got inside the car, determined not to look at him again. But she failed because she looked up, her gaze clashing with his right as she closed the door. And she didn’t look away as they drove off. Nick didn’t move from the spot she’d left him standing in.

It was only when the car turned and he was out of sight that she remembered how to breathe.

Jill Shalvis' He's So Fine Launch Day Blitz and giveaway

So today is another exciting release day. One of my favorite authors has been on a roll this fall. 3 new books releasing in 3 months is a really big deal and today is release day for her 2nd book. Congratulations to Jill Shalvis on her latest release, He's So Fine, book 11 in the Lucky Harbor series. If you haven't reads Jill's books, well, let's just say you are really missing out. More than missing out, you are deprived. She is incredibly talented and her Lucky Harbor series is one of my 2 favorite contemporary series' of all time. Okay, make that 3 because she has another current series that I love just as much. Any-who, this happens to have one of my fave heroes. He is sweet but masculine and would have fit right in to my crazy family with it's 6 daughters. Yeah I know, my mother was a saint. The heroine is scarred by her past but somehow still a genuinely lovely person who can't help opening to others no matter how hard she tries not to. It was a spectacular read. Fresh, lively, and yes it is definitely also steamy. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the fact that it is funny. Yes I appeared to be a bit crazy. My family couldn't figure out why I was snorting and laughing. By the way, don't snort while drinking. It is very painful. With that in mind, here's to happy reading.......
PS I really love the heroes from The Lucky Harbor series. Please keep them coming Jill.

Book Summary:
For Olivia Bentley, Lucky Harbor is more than the town where she runs her new vintage shop. It's the place where folks are friendly to strangers-and nobody knows her real name. Olivia does a good job of keeping her past buried, not getting too cozy with anyone . . . until she sees a man drowning. Suddenly she's rushing into the surf, getting up close and personal with the hottest guy she's ever laid hands on.

Charter boat captain Cole Donovan has no problem with a gorgeous woman throwing her arms around his neck in an effort to "save" him. In fact, he'd like to spend a lot more time skin-to-skin with Olivia. He's just not expecting that real trouble is about to come her way. Will it bring her deeper into Cole's heart, or will it be the end of Olivia's days in little Lucky Harbor?

HE'S SO FINE is available in mass market paperback, ebook and audio book formats wherever books are sold if you'd like to include retailers links in your post.
